According to Cuiumju, based on the official response received from the Public Property Agency, the audit of Moldovagaz’s debt cost 800,000 euros. At the same time, former Energy Minister Victor Parlykov publicly stated that the total cost of the audit was 1,150,000 euros.
“The difference is 350,000 euros. Who is telling the truth?” the lawmaker asked.
Constantin Cuiumju also drew attention to how Moldovagaz’s debt continues to be reflected in the financial statements.
“Even more serious is the fact that, despite the government’s statement acknowledging only $8.6 million of the alleged $709 million debt, the full amount still appears in Moldovagaz’s financial statements. At the same time, the state continues to collect taxes calculated as if the debt were actually $709 million,” the lawmaker noted.
The lawmaker reported that he had requested official information from the Public Property Agency, Moldovagaz, and the State Tax Service. In his opinion, the responses he received raise even more questions regarding the handling of this case.
“I requested official documents from the Public Property Agency, Moldovagaz, and the State Tax Service. The responses I received raise even more questions. That is why I will contact the Prosecutor General’s Office to determine how much this audit actually cost, where every euro of public funds was spent, and why the state’s official conclusions have not yet been implemented,” said Constantin Cuiumju.
