This is significantly less than in the previous month (more than 18 thousand tons) and in April last year (about 20 thousand tons). This data was shared with Logos Press by the Moldova Fruct Association, citing statistics from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry MAIA and the Customs Service of the Republic of Moldova.
The association’s employees note that the reduction of the physical volume of exports in April-June is quite predictable – it is the period of completion of the sales season (marketing year) of apples from the previous year’s harvest. A more modest volume of external deliveries in April compared to the indicator for April last year is explained by a relatively small harvest of apples (about 440 thousand tons). Accordingly, not much of these export-quality fruits remained for realization in the second half of spring and early summer of 2025.
Between April 1, 2024 (beginning of the 2024-25 marketing year) and May 1, 2025, Moldova exported a total of about 90 thousand tons of apple crop-2024.
