    Officials from the National Anti-Corruption Center (CNA), in collaboration with prosecutors from the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (RA), are investigating a man in connection with a case involving influence peddling. He is alleged to have demanded and received money from another person in order to persuade public officials to exempt that person from criminal liability.

    The reform of public sector pay, which the authorities had planned for September 2026, has been postponed to January 1, 2027. The government intends to approve the draft in October and submit it to parliament.

    Failure to comply with a commander’s order or directive, as well as failure to fulfill the general duties of military personnel, will be explicitly classified as disciplinary offenses.     The law on public sector pay is set to be adopted by the government in October and take effect on January 1, 2027. For next year, the payroll budget is projected to exceed 38 billion lei, which is more than 5 billion lei above the current level. Starting September 1, teachers’ salaries will not be increased, as there is no funding in the budget for this measure.

    Amid a labor union protest outside the Moldovan government building on August 19, a new phase of the “Education 2030” strategy for 2026–2030 was approved. Approximately 13.5 billion lei are planned to be allocated to the development of the education system over the next five years. Educators are demanding a raise in teachers’ salaries effective September 1.

    In China, caring for elderly parents is not just a family and moral obligation. The law explicitly requires adult children to maintain regular contact with them. If parents feel that their children are neglecting them, they can go to court and demand not only financial support but also involvement in their lives.

    Unions are protesting Wednesday in the Great National Assembly Square, demanding a pay raise effective September 1 and that the commitments made to employees in the education system be honored. Prime Minister Vasile Tofan told the protesters that the authorities will present the solutions they have prepared for the education system at 2:00 p.m.

    Moldovan firefighters returned to the Republic of Moldova after a month-long mission to fight wildfires in Greece. As part of the GFFFV-MD team, they participated in 10 operational missions between July 14 and August 15, 2026, under the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism.

    In 2026, the National Health Insurance Company (CNAM) will allocate more than 2 million lei for assisted reproductive technology services. Starting August 18, CNAM will begin signing a contract with the first medical facility this year to perform 14 in vitro fertilization (IVF) procedures, which will be funded through the mandatory health insurance program.
