The Prime Minister assured everyone that the government is already working actively with the Ministry of Culture to ensure that the ensemble has a home again.
“We’ve lost the building. But most importantly, we haven’t lost our artists. We haven’t lost the people who continue to believe in the Philharmonic and work for its sake. We must revive the Philharmonic! This is our duty to the culture of the Republic of Moldova, to the generations who built this institution, and to those who will inherit it. And here I want to emphasize the most important point: we will rebuild the Philharmonic!” declared Alexandru Munteanu.
In his speech, he emphasized that the country’s development is not limited to economic indicators and road infrastructure—it fundamentally depends on investments in education and culture.
“I was asked whether culture contributes to the development of a nation. Yes, I believe that without culture, there is no nation. A people that values opera, symphonic music, and the arts is a people that has not lost its sensitivity. And a country that invests in culture is, in fact, investing in what will remain after we are gone—our children and grandchildren,” the prime minister noted.
Over the past ten years, the “DescOperă” festival has become one of Moldova’s hallmarks. This anniversary season is once again bringing together classical music lovers and tourists in Old Orhei, where the stage blends harmoniously into the unique natural landscapes.
