Shagidze moved from maib, which Lion Finance calls Moldova’s largest bank.
Shaghidze had been CEO of maib since 2021, leading the development of the bank’s digital capabilities.
At Lion Finance, he succeeds Sulhan Gvalia, who was also group and bank CFO. He stepped down after 20 years with the company in March.
“Over the past few years, I have had the honor of leading the complete transformation of maib. That chapter is now closing and I am very grateful to the people and partners who have made this journey possible.
Armed with this experience and many years as CFO, I look forward to working with the Group’s management and teams to jointly drive the next phase of growth, expand our international footprint and create long-term, sustainable value. Earlier in my career, I worked at Bank of Georgia. To return now, with a much broader responsibility and scope, is very meaningful and extremely motivating for me,” said Giorgi Shagidze.
