
Our country was represented by State Secretary of the Foreign Ministry Sergiu Mihov, Romania by State Secretary for Strategic Affairs Ana Tinca, and Ukraine by Deputy Foreign Minister Oleksandr Mishchenko.
The purpose of the meeting was to strengthen trilateral dialog and develop cooperation in strategic areas, including infrastructure, transportation, trade, investment, energy, security and countering hybrid threats.
During the discussions, the officials stressed the important role of trilateral cooperation in developing regional connectivity, modernizing infrastructure and enhancing energy sustainability. They also discussed the prospect of developing joint projects in the field of energy infrastructure reconstruction and diversification of energy sources, the Moldovan Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The central topic of the discussions was the regional security context. The sides strongly condemned the Russian Federation’s war against Ukraine and emphasized the serious consequences of Russian attacks on the civil infrastructure and security of the entire region.
Sergiu Mihov reiterated our country’s firm commitment to continue trilateral cooperation: “The Odessa Triangle format is a strategic platform for cooperation and dialog, contributing to the strengthening of regional stability, security and sustainability. We have a shared responsibility to promote concrete projects for the benefit of our citizens and our common European path”.
Romanian Secretary of State Ana Tinca emphasized the need for close coordination in the current geopolitical context: “The security situation remains extremely challenging. Romania is fully committed to supporting Moldova and Ukraine, including in the fields of energy, transportation and reforms. Our trilateral cooperation is yielding concrete results and will continue to develop”.
Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Oleksandr Mishchenko emphasized the importance of regional unity: “In these difficult times, it is extremely important that our states remain united as friends and reliable partners. Our format allows us to coordinate efforts, share experience and strengthen resilience in the face of Russian aggression and hybrid threats”.
The sides agreed to continue coordination in the field of cyber security, promote cross-border infrastructure projects and intensify cooperation in support of Ukraine’s reconstruction.
