The main task of the meeting was to promptly assess the crisis situation in the agricultural sector, which arose as a result of frosts and focal spread of African swine fever on the territory of the country.
Forța Fermierilor also proposes that all branches of government join forces and “jointly seek help from external development partners, especially the European Union, for financial assistance and long-term financing for the adaptation of agricultural production to natural changes”.
In addition, the association calls on the Moldovan authorities to undertake fiscal and legislative measures to overcome the crisis in agriculture. In particular, “to ensure the real functioning of the Law on VAT refund program and the return of excise duties on diesel fuel to agricultural producers, as well as to pay the arrears of subsidies for 2024, to amend the legislation on bankruptcy, to provide tax exemptions”.
The Forța Fermierilor management regretted that “constant official statements about the assistance provided to farmers, which is often ineffective, creates a distorted public perception of farmers’ exaggerated demands and generates social hatred against them”.
