Mircea Abrudean, President of the Romanian Senate, emphasized the need for the rapid development of transportation and energy links between the two countries.
“The Republic of Moldova must be permanently freed from energy blackmail and structurally integrated into the European market via Romania. At the same time, our technical assistance in harmonizing legislation and reforming the administration in Chisinau must continue. The Romanian Parliament is already actively involved in these efforts, and the diplomatic community is called upon to keep the Republic of Moldova constantly in the spotlight of European decisions aimed at its swift integration,” Abrudian stated.
Romanian Foreign Minister Oana Țoiu noted the significant progress in regional connectivity achieved over the past year:
“Perhaps not all of them were developed over the past year, but among the results achieved by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and diplomatic missions in collaboration with ministries and regional authorities, connectivity holds a special place. We are building the first bridge in 60 years between Romania and the Republic of Moldova. We have advanced energy interconnection projects with both Ukraine and Moldova,” said Țoiu.
She noted that Romania strives to be a reliable partner for the countries of the region—Moldova, Ukraine, and the Western Balkans—in the process of administrative reforms and the provision of technical assistance, drawing on the lessons the country has learned during its years of transition.
