Turkey to equip a college in Comrat

This is stipulated by a protocol on cooperation in the field of vocational education between the Moldovan and Turkish governments, signed the day before by Education and Research Minister Dan Perciun and his Turkish counterpart Yusuf Tekin.

According to the document, with the Turkish side’s support, the college will buy furniture, modern equipment, as well as equip laboratories necessary for the educational process, depending on the specialties agreed upon. At the same time, Turkey assumes responsibility for the construction of a dormitory for students.

The college, built with the support of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), will operate as a public institution of vocational education in accordance with the national legislation of Moldova. The Ministry of Education and Science will provide budgetary places for enrollment and ensure the functionality of the institution. Annual enrollment is expected to be about 100-125 students.

The college will offer specialties in information technologies, electrical engineering and electronics. Education will be conducted in Romanian, but by agreement of the parties, some subjects may be taught in Turkish or English.

According to the ministry, the establishment of this modern college in the south of Moldova will have a significant impact on the socio-economic development of the region and will contribute to the expansion of employment opportunities for young people, stimulate the development of the local economy and modernize the educational process.
