The State Russian Drama Theater named after A. P. Chekhov is hosting full houses in February and March with premiere performances of the comedy-improvisation “Turandot” based on Carlo Gozzi’s fiaba. The author of the stage version and director Roman Malay offers a glimpse into the past in completely new and unfamiliar forms.

In the last issue of LP we told about the fact that at the European Youth Olympic Wrestling Championships (U-23) in Tirana (Albania) the only representative of the fair sex from Moldova at the tournament, 21-year-old Mihaela Samoil, won a silver medal in the weight category up to 55 kg, and freestyle wrestlers Ion Marcu and Eugen Mihalcean became bronze medalists in the weight categories up to 74 kg and up to 86 kg.
We can already talk about Moldovan wines being sold in Sweden, a country where the turnover of alcoholic beverages is regulated by strict rules of the state monopoly (Systembolaget). And our compatriot living in this country, former soccer player Sergiu Tanurkov, who created a company for importing wines, played a significant role in this. And three Swedes, who also liked Moldovan wines and became business partners, help him in this.
The most important exhibition in the wine world, ProWein` 2025, took place on March 16-18 in Düsseldorf (Germany). It was attended by about 4.2 thousand companies (a year ago – 5.4 thousand) from 65 countries, including 46 Moldovan producers of wine and divine at a common stand under the brand Wine of Moldova. The exposition was visited by about 42 thousand specialists from 128 countries (last year – 47 thousand people from 135 countries). This reflects the crisis in the world wine industry, as global wine consumption is on the decline.
On March 12-13, 2025, Chisinau hosted the Green and Just Transition Summit, which brought together more than 100 non-profit civil society organizations from the fields of environment, youth, culture, labor market, human rights organizations, and media. The event provided a platform for sharing experiences, discussing Moldova’s commitments to sustainable development, building partnerships and attracting sources of funding for environmental initiatives. The summit was organized by the New Democracy Foundation (Denmark).
MedLife, the largest private network of medical services in Romania, is entering the Moldovan market. It acquired a controlling stake in the All Clinic group, which includes three private multidisciplinary clinics contracted by the National Health Insurance Fund of the Republic of Moldova.
The first commercial shipment of Moldovan apples was sent to India on March 19. The export shipment is carried out in the standard (non-test) mode. Prior to that, several trial shipments totaling 260 tons were sent to the Indian market in the enhanced control mode during 2023-24. Due to positive assessments of these deliveries, as LP reported (No. 7 of 28.02.25), on February 21, the Indian Ministry of Agriculture completed all necessary procedures and included Moldova in the list of countries approved for apple deliveries in the standard mode, in accordance with Indian phytosanitary norms.

Radical changes in Washington’s foreign policy after Donald Trump took office as president, namely: statements about Greenland and Canada joining the United States, the imposition of duties against America’s allies, the beginning of negotiations with Putin without Ukraine, and the plan to relocate Palestinians from the Gaza Strip.
From the pages of the New York Times, veteran Democratic Party strategist James Carville recently suggested to his colleagues a “bold political maneuver” in response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s chosen tactic of shock and awe: “roll over and play dead.” His proposal, naturally, drew roars of condemnation and caustic rebukes from Democrats across the political spectrum. The Stock Exchange of Moldova has again offered for sale 80% of newly issued shares of the insurance company Moldasig. This was announced by the company, announcing the sale of a single package of 480 thousand (80% of the authorized capital) of newly issued common registered shares of I class through the regulated market of the Stock Exchange of Moldova at the previous initial price of 286.5 lei per share.
