Moldova, Ukraine and Romania may hold summit of prime ministers in spring

Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu has said that the possibility of holding a trilateral meeting of the prime ministers of Moldova, Ukraine and Romania this spring is being considered. Among other places, Chernivtsi (Ukraine) and Giurgiulesti (Moldova) are considered for the meeting, Logos Press reported.

According to Alexandru Munteanu, the initiative of the trilateral meeting was discussed with his Ukrainian counterparts during his visit to Kiev on Tuesday, February 10. Some ministers, including the infrastructure and energy ministers, are also scheduled to attend the event.

“Now we will work on the agenda, we will also discuss it with our Romanian colleagues, with whom we have not spoken directly yet, but I believe that such a meeting would be very timely and useful,” Munteanu said after Wednesday’s cabinet meeting.

He said such a meeting fits into his “general logic of visits.” Within three months of taking office, he has visited Bucharest, Brussels and, now, Kiev.

“We want to build a European, free future together, to act together on several fronts – from energy and infrastructure to border security and all the way to joining the European Union,” the prime minister said.
