Moldova and Sweden summarize the results of cooperation in the tax field

From May 19 to 21, 2026, the State Tax Service will host an official delegation of the Swedish Tax Agency as part of the final phase of the implementation of the Cooperation Agreement between the two institutions.

During the meeting of the Head of the State Tax Service Olga Golban with the delegation of the Swedish Tax Agency, the parties discussed the results of the project, as well as the possibilities of continuing institutional cooperation in the field of tax administration.

The delegation of the Swedish Tax Agency is represented by Fredrik Brolin, Head of the Department of Business Taxation, and Petra Jacobsen, Director for International Affairs. Ingegerd Widell, permanent advisor of the Swedish Tax Agency to the State Tax Service of Moldova, also participates in the negotiations.

What has been accomplished

The agenda of the visit includes discussion of the main components of the project. Among them are information exchange, service to taxpayers, development of the staff of the tax service, as well as international tax standards.

As part of the visit, the delegation visited the Tax Service Department in Ialoveni, where its members were introduced to the activities of the unit and the process of servicing taxpayers.

Representatives of the Embassy of Sweden in Chisinau and the project manager from the Swedish Tax Agency Markus Werner participated in the meeting of the Supervisory Committee for the cooperation project between the STS and the Swedish Tax Agency.

The cooperation between the State Tax Service of Moldova and the Swedish Tax Agency contributes to strengthening the capacity of the Moldovan tax administration in the context of aligning tax legislation with EU standards, modernizing internal processes and developing more efficient and accessible services for taxpayers.
