Michelle Iliev, state secretary at the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, said that now banks do not have direct access to the Population Register and have to request official proof of documents, making the process partly paper-based.
“We did discuss this issue with EVO when e-certification was just being launched, technically there is actually a problem, but by this summer there should be a technical solution,” Iliev said.
Once the new system is implemented, data will be automatically verified through the digital platform, and a physical document will only be required as additional confirmation.
“Banks are also interested in digitalization. When the element with the ID card will be realized in such a way that the document can be scanned and the data is automatically verified in the system, the bank will be able to send a request to the State Services Agency and immediately receive confirmation of the validity of the series of the document,” the state secretary said.
For the full operation of the technology will require the use of special readers, which will be installed both in banks and government agencies. Users will be able to confirm their identity simply by touch, which will speed up access to services and increase the level of digitalization.
The EVO integrated government portal was launched on Thursday, January 22. The evo.gov.md website becomes a single digital window for interaction with the state, designed for citizens, entrepreneurs and the diaspora. This is the first step towards the introduction of remote identification and digital wallet. The portal already integrates 620 state services, of which 396 are available fully online.
