As stated by the Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization, Eugen Osmokescu, the preservation of a favorable tax regime and a stable regulatory framework represents the authorities’ firm commitment to support IT parks, considered engines of innovation and national economic development.
Earlier in the press, Osmokescu stated that the favorable conditions for MITP residents are valid “only temporarily – until Moldova’s accession to the EU”.
According to the minister, the government is already preparing a plan to phase out these benefits.
“We have to recognize: at some point we have to think about an exit strategy. We are already discussing it inside the ministry. It is necessary to fully harmonize Moldovan laws concerning industrial parks, hubs and free economic zones with EU norms. Joining the European Union is our number one priority, because it will bring great benefits to both the economy and the citizens of the country,” Osmocescu said.
Moldova IT Park, launched in 2018, operates under a unique tax regime of 7% of operating revenue. This business model has contributed to attracting investments and the development of the IT industry. In recent years, the technology sector has become one of the most dynamic sectors in Moldova’s economy, creating jobs and economic growth.
The total sales of the park’s residents in 2024 reached 15.2 billion lei, or approximately 770 million euros, a 21% increase over the previous year.
MITP’s turnover is expected to exceed €1 billion in 2025. Of these, 88% of the services provided by the park residents are exported.
Currently, Moldova IT Park has 2665 registered residents, of which 343 are foreign companies from 44 countries.
