Companies will be helped to reduce energy costs

This will be possible thanks to the project “REC4SMEs – Supporting SMEs through Renewable Energy Communities for a Sustainable Future”.

The Government of Moldova has approved the signing of the corresponding grant agreement. The project is implemented by the Organization for Enterprise Development (ODA) in partnership with the Executive Agency of the European Council for Innovation and SMEs. The total budget of the project is 938 thousand euros, of which ODA manages 246 thousand euros.

The initiative aims to develop renewable energy communities, support the transition to clean energy and strengthen the integration of Moldovan enterprises into the European market. For this purpose, ODA as coordinator will establish 12 renewable energy communities and provide them with technical, legal and financial support, including vouchers of up to 20 thousand euros per community.

“The project will allow SMEs to reduce energy costs by at least 20% and will have a direct impact on the competitiveness of the agri-food and trade sectors,” said Natalia Selevestru, State Secretary of the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization.

According to the ministry, the implementation of the agreement will be a step towards a modern industrial policy and harmonization of practices with European standards.
