They can be used in local development projects implemented by the associations.
Every year, with the financial support of the PNUD and the Swiss Cooperation Office, the alliance provides grants of 9 thousand euros, the rest of the funds are invested by local authorities and donors. These can be local development projects or economic programs, such as the development of a community development strategy or a village investment profile.
Next year, the Sirec village mayor’s office intends to apply for funding for a project to expand the village’s investment profile. “Today, the biggest problem is to provide information, concrete and timely, so that our compatriots know where to invest,” says Leonid Boage. – Because representatives of our diaspora abroad show interest in this”.
Thus, the Sireci Mayor’s Office signed a contract with Victoriabank to issue municipal bonds worth 3 million lei. These funds will be used for the construction of a road and stormwater structures for collecting and distributing rainwater. Taking into account climatic changes and the lack of irrigation networks, such structures are in great demand today.
“Then we plan to build a basin to collect water and use it for irrigation,” continues Leonid Boage. – The project has already been developed, the necessary amount for its implementation is 10 million lei. We want to give the Diaspora the opportunity to invest in one third of the emission. This is not only a good income, but also less risky”.
