The purpose of JICA’s study visit to Moldova, which will last until March 6, is to agree on the project concept. Its key aspects require approval before starting administrative procedures and negotiations on a new source of financing.
During the discussions, the possibility of including a consultancy component in the project concept (i.e. study visits, thematic seminars and platforms for exchange of experience – focusing on sustainable land management technologies, as well as on the development of winemaking) was considered.
The implementation of the MAME 2 project aims at reducing the climate vulnerability of Moldovan agriculture through the use of advanced agricultural technologies and promoting inclusiveness (bonuses for young farmers and women entrepreneurs). Also an important aspect of the program is the implementation of European Union standards in the field of food quality and safety, as well as the integration of local producers into European agri-food value chains.
Within the first phase of the MAME program, 472 farmers from all regions of the country benefited from its financing. At the same time, the beneficiaries’ own investments were attracted, totaling about 816 million lei. A total of 841 units of agricultural machinery and equipment were purchased.
