Mutual trade turnover between Moldova and the Netherlands is increasing annually. While there is a significant economic contrast between the economies of these countries, there are also complementary opportunities for cooperation. How to realize this potential and give an additional impetus to trade? This was the subject of the Export Vision conference organized by the Investment Agency.

On July 10, 2025, the Moldovan Parliament approved, in the second reading, a draft law exempting from customs duties used passenger buses intended for replenishing public transport in Balti. Previously, these buses operated in Resita (Caras-Severin county in western Romania), but the municipal authorities of the Romanian twin city decided to donate them to Balti.

Starting from 2020, the Chisinau municipality has invested more than 180 million lei in projects for the development of kindergartens and schools in suburban settlements of the capital. This was announced by Mayor General Ion Ceban. He stressed that the modernization of educational institutions, both in the city and in the suburbs, is among the unconditional priorities of the capital’s authorities.

This week, gardeners in the south and center of Moldova started harvesting plums of the most widespread in the country early varieties – “Petestianca” and “Caciasca early”. The demand for fruits of the first harvest is high. According to the fruit market operators, the starting wholesale price is set in the range of 9-15 lei/kg. In retail stores, price tags for the first Moldovan plum, depending on its quality – caliber, density, stage of ripeness – are about 40-50 lei/kg.

The more humanity learns about the oceans, the more obvious it becomes how little we actually understand about them. For example, it is believed that there are actually three times as many marine species as we have already identified. This fact alone should make us stop treating the ocean as something self-evident.

Against the background of the general well-being of the financial sector, the decline in profitability of the insurance business in the first quarter of the year looks, at least, strange. The National Bank does not name the real reasons for the deterioration, but fixes the decrease in total profit, losses of insurance companies and other obvious symptoms of temporary malaise.

In January-May 2025, exports of goods amounted to $1,334.9 million, down 10.5% compared to the same period in 2024, the National Bureau of Statistics reported.

On July 9, the state-owned company Railways of Moldova (Railways of Moldova) published an invitation to participate in an open tender to select a contractor to perform rehabilitation works on a section near the village of Valeni in Cahul district. Bids will be accepted until July 29, 2025. The tender will be conducted without electronic bidding, in the form of an open auction.

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, there are 1446 companies and 2815 specialists providing accounting services in Moldova. The market turnover amounts to 1,237 million lei. These are the latest NBS data for 2023, which represent the number of companies involved in accounting and legal consulting. But they reflect the general trend, because these services tend to correlate with each other.
