Right of Reprimand. The letter, signed by APS Director General Roman Cojuhar, states the following: “Law No. 219/2024 ratified the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the Government of the United States of America on the acquisition of property for the new building of the Embassy of the United States of America in the Republic of Moldova.

Price is not the main argument in the Republican Stadium story at all. Price reflects only the market – if it exists – and even this market has been ignored here. But the interests of Moldova and its citizens are not measured in square meters or euros per meter. They are measured by the possibility for Moldovans to use this land. And this is where a separate story begins, much more unpleasant than talking about price.

AmCham Moldova submitted to the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection a negative opinion on the relevant draft law.

In recent years, Moldova has been living in a new reality. Along with rapid digitalization, organized cross-border online crime (ransomware, phishing, etc.) is penetrating the country. There is no immunity from cyberattacks and platforms for “relatively honest” money laundering, neither for government agencies nor for the population, which faces fraudsters of all kinds. There is no full-fledged defense, except for their own knowledge, experience and worldly wisdom. “Hope for help, but do not fail yourself!”, experts advise.

The Court of Accounts sent to the legislature the annual report on the external control of public finances for 2024. The activity of the auditors in the reporting period was mainly focused on financial audits of the reports of the government, ministries and agencies on the execution of budgets. These audits were complemented by thematic and control missions on key areas of state functioning and the quality of public services.

The scandal with SA “Topaz” has received a new round of development. It should be reminded that an unprecedented situation unfolded at this strategic enterprise: raider seizure and deep crisis of management led to a legal vacuum and creation of a dangerous precedent in the corporate practice of RM.

Last week, the Constitutional Court declared unconstitutional the amendments to the Amnesty Law on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Moldova’s independence. These amendments were introduced by the outgoing parliament during 2022 and allowed life convicts to apply for the commutation of a life sentence to a sentence of up to 30 years of imprisonment and then for amnesty.

At the end of last week, the Tax Hell Index 2024 rating with the loud title “Tax Hell” appeared.
