Moldova will host the Internet Governance Forum

The event will be held in a hybrid format – participation is possible both offline in Chisinau and online. The program covers such areas as digital trust, trustworthy online information environment, universal access and digital rights. It will also discuss the role of digital technologies in the context of geopolitical instability and complex threats, including cybersecurity and protection of users’ rights in the digital space.

The keynote address, which will be presented by Veni Markov, Vice-President of the ICANN Corporation, will be organized by the ICANN Corporation.
Vice President of ICANN Veni Markowski will present the keynote address, which aims to provide an overview of new international initiatives on digital governance. The Global Digital Compact, adopted at the UN Future Summit in September 2024 in New York, will be in the spotlight. The speaker will discuss why it is important for countries and regions to participate in global digital policymaking and how this can affect the development of national digital ecosystems.

The Internet Governance Forum is a UN platform for discussing key digital policy issues. In Moldova, the forum is organized by the Association “Comunitatea Internet” with the participation of national and international partners. Global players such as TikTok, SecDev Foundation, Article 19 and Access Now have joined them in 2025. At the local level, the partners are the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) and the Information Technology and Cyber Security Service (STISC).

A separate event within MIGF 2025 will be Universal Acceptance Day (UA Day), which will be held for the first time in Moldova on April 16. The event is organized with the support of ICANN and UNESCO and is dedicated to multilingualism, accessibility of digital content and the use of national domain names. UA Day is part of a global initiative aimed at ensuring that Internet services correctly recognize addresses and domains in all languages and alphabets.
