Viorel Cojocaru with Sportul" academy students
LP: – Did the Prosecutor General’s Office and the NCBC respond to your inquiries?
– The competent authorities are continuing investigative measures with regard to the persons who illegally took over the management of the club. As far as I know, the new management of the club was summoned for questioning to the prosecutor’s office.
LP: – Do you continue cooperation with “Spartanii”?
– We do not cooperate. The interests of the new management are reduced to the main team, they are not interested in anything else. I asked to help three guys with transfers from other clubs, because their families could not afford it. I was told that I should not interfere in the club’s affairs and the parents of these kids should pay for the transfers. I think it is stupid that the club manages the academy funds for the main team, including transfers of newly arrived players, paying for the pitch in Suruceni, food and transportation, but they do not want to pay for matches in the youth championships. Providing for 10 youth teams requires a lot of investment. Where is the justice?
LP: – Did the Moldovan Football Federation react to your statements?
– I have sent them letters three times, but so far I have not received a response.
LP: – What are your next steps?
– I will not give up the fight against those who do nothing but take advantage of hard-working people who are passionate about what they do. Those who work with kids know what that means. Look at how the team is playing in Super League now and the transfers that have been made. Players have come in that should help bring better results, but clearly not to be in the current position. The reason is that the team is managed by non-professionals, they have no place in big soccer. The blame for this situation lies with the people associated with them. It fuels corruption and makes soccer dirty.
When I was at Spartanii, I was focused on developing young players. Back then there were at least eight guys from youth teams aged 17-21 in the main squad. Look at how many youngsters are playing at the club now… What is the point of leaving the kids without the opportunity to develop, if the team has no chance to make the playoffs (the second phase of the Super League – author’s note) and continue playing in the top division in the spring?
LP: – Is there a risk of the club being removed from the championship?
– We’ll see how the situation will develop. I think that people must wake up to do good things for the future of the country, otherwise we will stay where we are with all the dirty maneuvers. This is a lesson for me and an example to other clubs not to believe promises. There are no investors with good intentions. We have to work on our own and create the best. If anyone comes in, they usually take advantage of everything and leave with debt.
LP: – Club administrator Ion Kvasnicki stated that “Spartanii-Sportul” has moved to the village of Selemet. Does the information correspond to reality?
– Please do not say that the team is from Selemet, it is not true. All the guys are from Chisinau, this is where the team is stationed after the beginning of cooperation with the academy “Sportul”.
