This clarification was provided in light of the fact that customs authorities regularly report duties assessed in cases where the value of goods exceeds the permitted limit. For example, last week, individuals imported goods into Moldova’s customs territory whose value exceeded the tax-free limit, resulting in additional charges of approximately 21.7 million lei.
Customs officials clarify that goods permitted for import must not exceed the following values:
– 430 euros – for goods transported by air;
– 300 euros – for goods transported by land.
In the case of cash, which also regularly causes problems, the amount that can be imported or exported without declaration must not exceed the equivalent of 10,000 euros.
