A Policy Brief on Women, Peace and Security has been developed with support from the Foreign and Commonwealth Development Office of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (FCDO) and a grant from the Institute for War and Peace Reporting (IWPR). The document is published on the official website of the Ministry of Defense.
This agenda is integrated into the Common Foreign and Security Policy of the European Union, where “the gender dimension is crucial for conflict prevention, peace building and state sustainability”. Moldova, as a candidate state, should demonstrate that it can implement this agenda, the document stresses.
Moldova should actively participate in European networks, platforms and programs dedicated to the Women, Peace and Security agenda, the authors recommend. For example, participation in the EU Network on Women, Peace and Security (a platform that brings together experts and practitioners from member states and partner countries) can ensure synchronized efforts and utilize external financial instruments for national security projects – from awareness-raising and education campaigns to the development of services to support women.
