
In particular, the country’s authorities will develop a pilot project to introduce “artificial rain summoning technology”. According to the country’s government forecasts, this will increase precipitation by 10-20%. In addition, the country plans to introduce water-saving technologies on hundreds of thousands of hectares of agricultural land.
The experience of France, China and Saudi Arabia will be taken as a basis for the project of “artificial rain summoning”. This is stipulated by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s decree on the state program for 2026. Project development will begin March 1, with the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change, the Academy of Sciences and the Tashkent Region Administration in charge.
In 2025, the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan reported that an artificial rain inducing machine has already been installed in one of the country’s districts. The project was implemented in cooperation with the Kazakh company International Center of Climate Change Technologies.
It is also planned to introduce water-saving technologies on 504,000 hectares of agricultural land. In particular, drip irrigation will be introduced on 75.4 thousand hectares, sprinkler irrigation – on 97 thousand hectares, discrete irrigation – on 26.2 thousand hectares.
Laser land leveling will be applied on 203 thousand hectares to ensure that water from irrigation systems is distributed evenly over the soil. By 2028, it is planned to apply water-saving technologies in Uzbekistan to 80% of all irrigated lands.
