MAIA head Ludmila Catlabuga noted in this regard that maintaining the area of cultivated agricultural land is also important from the point of view of food security. She assured that the ministry will continue the dialog with farmers to monitor the progress of agricultural works and identify any additional measures that may be needed during the spring campaign.
The need for a full-fledged spring sowing campaign is all the more urgent because in the fall, due to difficult weather conditions, farmers managed to sow a smaller area with winter crops than the season before. Accordingly, a significant share of land was added to the spring crops fund.
According to Ludmila Catlabuga, the VAT refund mechanism still exists, but the goal is to optimize the procedure so that the money reaches farmers faster. “We are discussing the VAT refund of about 200 million lei within the existing requests. In fact, this procedure is still in place, but we want to simplify and speed it up in order to provide farmers with the necessary liquidity,” the minister said.
