The operator proposes to set a tariff of 14.129 lei per m³, plus 8% VAT, which makes a total of 15.259 lei per m³. The current tariff is 16.74 lei per cubic meter of natural gas.
According to calculations submitted to ANRE, the weighted average purchase price of natural gas intended for supply at regulated prices is 8,206 lei per 1,000 m³. In 2026, Energocom plans to supply 667.36 million m³ of gas. The total purchase price is 269.77 million euros 5,476.43 million lei.
Energocom’s request to ANRE says that the calculation takes into account the expenses for customer service under the contract with Moldovagaz in the amount of 149.747 million lei for the period of 01.09.2025 – 31.03.2026. It also takes into account the tariffs for gas transportation and distribution and the projected expenses for the fulfillment of public service obligations.
Depending on the point of supply, the draft regulated prices (excluding VAT) are as follows:
– at the entrance to the transportation networks – 8,961 lei/1000 m³;
– at the outlet from the transportation networks – 9,045 lei/1000 m³;
– at the outlet of high pressure distribution networks – 9 140 lei/1000 m³;
– at the outlet of medium pressure distribution networks – 10,313 lei/1000 m³;
– at the outlet of low pressure distribution networks – 14,129 lei/1000 m³.
Meanwhile, a group of opposition MPs calculated that the gas tariff should be 13.8 lei per cubic meter. Our Party MP Constantin Cuyumzhu explained that the calculation was made on the basis of average prices of European exchanges, transportation and other tariff components, including VAT, and could have been applied back in December.
Another opposition party, Democrația Acasă, demands an even bigger reduction of the gas tariff. The party insists on a final tariff of no more than 11 lei per m³, a reduction in distribution costs and an immediate review of all unjustified costs in the tariff chain, as well as the declassification of Energocom’s gas purchase contracts. Party representatives held a spontaneous protest in front of the ANRE building.
A request by Energocom to revise the tariff has been posted on ANRE’s official website. After the agency studies the materials, the draft resolution will be put up for public consultations. The issue will be considered and proposed for approval at a public meeting on Tuesday, February 3.
Energocom’s request does not necessarily mean automatic approval of the tariffs that the operator has requested. The regulator can adjust the tariff up or down.
