The EU will help AGEPI to strengthen institutional capacity

The European Patent Office (EPO) will provide the necessary technical and methodological support to the State Agency for Intellectual Property (AGEPI) for institutional capacity building and harmonization of national legislation with European directives in the context of Moldova's accession to the EU.

This was announced during the working visit to AGEPI by EPO representatives. The meeting took place on March 24.

The discussions focused on topics such as convergence of practices within the European Patent Network (EPN), joining efforts to harmonize intellectual property protection procedures, sharing best practices between national offices and integrating innovative solutions, including artificial intelligence-based technologies, into examination and data management processes.

According to AGEPI’s information statement, the purpose of the visit was to strengthen institutional ties and promote strategic dialogue in the field of intellectual property protection by aligning AGEPI’s priorities with European standards and practices promoted by EPO.

The representatives of the Agency presented to the guests the institutional priorities of AGEPI, the latest developments in the field of intellectual property, as well as the progress made in the process of accession to the EC.

Discussions focused on the bilateral cooperation developed by the European Patent Office with Member States. Programs for access to knowledge and promotion of the innovation ecosystem were reviewed, focusing on public awareness initiatives, strengthening cooperation with academia and the development of technology transfer structures. As well as the use of support tools offered by the European Patent Office, including through the PATLIB network and the Patent Technology Observatory.

Another central theme was cooperation in the field of information technology, with a focus on the development and interoperability of digital systems, the implementation of modern document retrieval tools such as ANSERA, and the strengthening of information security through advanced technological solutions.
