The restriction was introduced based on the decision of the operational headquarters of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation to control nitrogen fertilizer supplies to agricultural producers and the procedure for their execution. The decision was made due to a sharp increase in demand for nitrogen fertilizer exports. The goal is uninterrupted sowing operations on the territory of Russia, Forbs.ru reports with reference to the ministry’s release.
The publication recalls that for the first time the Russian government restricted the export of nitrogen and complex fertilizers in 2021. The measure was repeatedly extended. From December 1, 2025 to May 31, 2026, the authorities set a quota for the export of ammonium nitrate in the amount of 2.6 million tons. It should be assumed that now its sampling is suspended for a month.
Will this decision affect the Moldovan agricultural resources market?
Russia is traditionally one of the largest suppliers of mineral fertilizers to Moldova. Earlier, Logos Press reported that, according to market operators’ observations, at least 90% of planned deliveries of nitrogen fertilizers for the first and second group of crops to Moldova had already been made by early March.
