The decision was made by the Qatar Tourism Authority against the background of canceled flights. This measure can be used by tourists who purchased air tickets before February 28 with the planned date of departure from Qatar in the period from February 28 to March 7.

How to extend free of charge?

To formalize the procedure, a foreign citizen must go to the front desk of the hotel where he or she is staying, present a foreign passport, copies of airline tickets (arrival and departure) and confirmation of the original room reservation.

Hotels in Qatar extend tourists in rooms of the same category that was previously paid for, without the possibility of upgrading the category. All guests are provided with three meals a day regardless of the originally paid tariff.

How long is it valid?

Extension of accommodation is valid for a maximum of seven days from the planned departure date. In case of airspace opening, the extension is terminated the day after the official announcement of the resumption of air traffic, further accommodation is paid by the tourists themselves.

Tourists who have already extended their accommodation at their own expense after the airspace closure can claim a refund. The guests who paid for accommodation before the aggravation of the situation in the region cannot claim for a refund. Paid tours are not refundable.

The beginning of a full-scale war against Iran, declared by the U.S. and Israel on February 28, and the subsequent missile strikes on U.S. military bases, residential and tourist facilities in the Persian Gulf region were the reasons for the cancellation of flights from the countries in the epicenter of the conflict – UAE, Qatar and Bahrain.
