The National Agency for Food Safety (ANSA) assures that the situation is under control and sanitary works are being carried out to eliminate the outbreak of diseases. Nevertheless, the agency’s specialists urge the population to be vigilant and observe biosafety measures, especially with regard to domestic and wild animals.

In the last two weeks of February, two outbreaks of African swine fever were recorded on the territory of Moldova: in Serata-Rezesi (Leova) and in Singera (Chisinau mun.).

ANSA staff also informs about the successful elimination of three outbreaks of African swine fever, while two other cases are “at an advanced stage of elimination”.

Also during this period, three outbreaks of rabies in domestic and wild animals were recorded: in Carpineni (Hincesti) and Boroseni (Dondiuseni).

Experts recommend citizens to avoid contact with suspicious animals and immediately seek medical help in case of bites or contact with animal saliva.
