Emergencies in the energy sector

According to Energy Minister Dorin Jungietu, Energocom specialists are making efforts to conclude contracts for importing volumes of electricity in the coming days. He noted that most of the volume for Wednesday, March 25, has already been determined.

Earlier, State Secretary of the Ministry of Energy Caroline Novak made it clear that temporary power cuts cannot be ruled out.

Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu said at a parliamentary session that negotiations are underway to cover a possible electricity shortage.

“It is impossible to give an exact estimate of the deficit for the next day, as it depends on the weather conditions, the production of electricity from alternative sources and the availability of connections with Ukraine,” Munteanu said.

The prime minister said that four interconnection lines with Romania have been activated, but the situation remains complicated. As early as tomorrow, the forecasted power deficit during peak hours may reach 350-400 MW. Technical teams continue round-the-clock monitoring and field work in order to safely eliminate the accident and restore the normal functioning of the energy infrastructure.

Under these conditions, the declaration of a state of emergency will allow the authorities to act promptly and in a coordinated manner: to organize and maintain so-called “energy islands” fed through 110 kV lines; to provide the system with electricity in emergency mode by activating emergency assistance contracts and drawing resources from neighboring transmission system operators; and to accelerate procurement procedures and strengthen the protection of critical infrastructure.

If necessary, the government will be able to impose restrictions on electricity consumption and establish special operating rules for economic actors to protect key economic facilities and social institutions. key economic facilities and social institutions. key economic facilities and social institutions.

We shall remind you that the Isaccea-Vulcanesti overhead power line (400 kV) was disconnected in the south of Ukraine. According to the state-run company Moldelectrica, the outage occurred after drone strikes near the energy infrastructure

The duration of the restoration work will be known after the demining on the site is completed. that technical work will be carried out by the Ukrainian side. After it is restored, the Energy Ministry will reimburse the reconstruction costs.

The Isaccea-Vulcanesti line is 52 kilometers long, of which 40 kilometers pass through the territory of Ukraine.
