Inflation slowed further in July

The dynamics of monthly consumer price growth (July to June), according to the NBS, was within the “statistical error” – 0.02%. Seasonal decrease in food prices slowed down food inflation and overlapped insignificant growth of prices for non-food goods and services.

In July, the most pronounced monthly decrease in average consumer prices was noted for vegetables – by 4.6% (including onions – by 35.0%, potatoes – by 22.6%, root crops – by 11.0%, garlic – by 9.0%, cabbage – by 3.6%, tomatoes – by 2.7%), sugar – by 1.5%, fruits – by 0.6%. At the same time, prices for chicken eggs increased by 2.4%, bread – by 1.2%, meat, meat semi-finished products and canned food – by 0.5%, milk and dairy products, vegetable oil – by 0.2%.

Since the monthly inflation rate in July this year (0.02%) is lower than the corresponding rate in July 2024 (0.23%), the annual inflation rate in July 2025 (7.93%) decreased by 0.24 percentage points compared to the rate recorded in June 2025 (8.17%).

In Q2 2025, the country’s annual inflation rate was only 0.9 percentage points lower than in the previous quarter. The still weak deceleration of the annual rate of inflationary growth was mainly due to the growth of consumer prices for personal services (by 13%) and food products (by 10.3%). Prices for non-food products grew by 2.1% over the year. At the same time, core inflation developed in line with the National Bank’s expectations and did not pose any threats.

The maintenance of average consumer prices in July 2025 at the level of the previous month was similar to the level recorded in Switzerland and below the inflation rate in many European countries.
