Fluctuations of the leu exchange rate against major currencies are minimal

The Moldovan leu started the working week with a slight weakening against the euro and strengthening against the US dollar. In March, the Moldovan leu demonstrates high stability against major world currencies, despite the jump in world energy prices.

National Bank of Moldova (NBM) set the following values for major currencies for March 16:

Euro (EUR): 20.0379 lei

The leu slightly lost ground compared to the end of last week (the exchange rate increased from 20.0351 MDL).

US dollar (USD): 17.4729 lei.

The American currency is trading below the values of mid-March (earlier the exchange rate reached 17.33 MDL).

Romanian leu (RON): 3.9336 lei

Stable against the Moldovan leu with minimal fluctuations.

Ukrainian hryvnia (UAH): 0.3959 lei.

At the banks’ cash desks in the afternoon there is a slight strengthening of the leu buying rate compared to the morning hours. As a rule, the most favorable conditions are offered by specialized exchange offices in the center of Chisinau, where the difference with the official exchange rate is minimal.

The gap between buying and selling dollars is about 25-30 bani, for euros – about 20-25 bani.
