At that time, a new Pay Act will also be enacted.
This was announced by Finance Minister Andrian Havrilice before today’s government meeting. He made the clarification in connection with the news that appeared in the press that the law on labor remuneration is postponed until the beginning of next year.
“This is a mistake, because the commitments we made earlier, according to which the law on labor remuneration was to come into force on January 1, 2027, are cited,” he said. – We are targeting September 1, 2026. We are sorry that there was a problem in communication and it became too much of a news story. Our plans have not changed.”
The minister emphasized that the necessary costs to implement the new Pay Act are being estimated.
“The final parameters are still being refined,” he noted. – I think that next week we will be able to discuss them more precisely. We have a conservative option and an optimistic one. The choice will depend on how we mobilize resources. Tentatively, we are talking about several billions of lei”.
The minister emphasized that the authorities’ goal is not to put pressure on the budget.
“We need to increase revenues, reduce expenditures and optimize the cost of borrowing,” he concluded. – We do not want to raise salaries at the expense of debt.”
