The visit was the next leg of his trip to the Persian Gulf, where he is discussing Kiev’s help in countering Iranian drones and establishing new partnerships in the region, Euronews reported.

Earlier, Zelensky confirmed that Qatar, as well as Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, Jordan and Kuwait had sent official inquiries regarding possible cooperation with Ukraine in countering drones.

Kiev has sent more than 200 of its drone experts to the region, with another 30 on their way to Jordan and Kuwait, Zelensky told reporters in a WhatsApp chat last week.

He has repeatedly said that Ukraine needs air defense against Russian ballistic missiles. In exchange, Kiev is ready to share its experience in countering Iranian drones.

It is still unclear whether any defense agreements have been signed with the UAE. Earlier, Kiev announced the signing of a document on defense cooperation with Saudi Arabia.

Qatar is of great importance for Ukraine. This country has established itself as one of its main mediators in the return of children deported by Russia, as well as prisoners of war.
