The tracks have put the government and the capital authorities on opposite sides of the tracks

Chisinau Mayor Ion Ceban said in his Telegram channel that specialists have presented a project of restoration works and the mayor’s office has prepared all the procedures for launching public procurement in early March.

The issue was solved “for almost two and a half years” because the city authorities’ projects were not approved by the government and the Culture Ministry, which “deliberately delayed the works,” Ceban said.

The approximate duration of the work, according to the designers’ estimates, will be about 6 months.

Another issue that has divided the Chisinau City Hall and the Ministry of Culture is the paths in the Stefan cel Mare Park.

Since the Stefan cel Mare Park is the oldest historical monument and a “visiting card” of the capital, the government insists that it, which is more than 20,000 square meters, be paved with granite, Coseuta stone and other similar materials.

Such a solution will be expensive, says Ion Ceban, because it will cost more than 1,200 lei per square meter just for the materials. The Ministry of Culture responds that the Mayor’s Office “did not present convincing arguments to support the stated price difference”.

Since, from the legal point of view, the municipal authorities cannot take measures with regard to the territories belonging to the state, they sent official letters to the government asking it to take measures so that the central zone of the capital would be restored.
