This was announced by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, noting the increased interest in the third phase of the program of state investment in the infrastructure of public kindergartens. The program aims to find a balance between family and work, helping parents return to an active life after the birth of a child.

Program budget

For the 2026-2027 period, the government will allocate a total of 385.7 million lei for the expansion and modernization of kindergartens’ services: 136.6 million lei in 2026 and 249.1 million lei in 2027.

The goal is to create about 5,000 new places in kindergartens by expanding the existing groups, opening new groups, as well as by building annexes. Last year, several such projects were already implemented within the program, and 241 new kindergarten places were opened.

“Record investment in public kindergartens demonstrates our strong commitment to supporting young families and creating real conditions for parents to return to work. Expanding kindergarten services means not only modernized infrastructure, but above all equal opportunities for children and greater security for parents. Thanks to these projects, we invest in the future of our children and in the sustainable development of the Republic of Moldova,” said Natalia Plugaru, Minister of Labor and Social Protection.

A total of 102 projects were registered for financing in 2026, with budgets ranging from 1.5 to 10 million lei per project.

Participation of local authorities

Level I local governments managing localities with a population of more than 3,000 inhabitants, including Chisinau and Balti municipalities, were included in the Program.

Local authorities had the opportunity to submit separate applications for several pre-school education institutions. The evaluation and eligibility check is currently underway.
