The decision also establishes obligations for individuals and legal entities involved in land use. Owners and proprietors of agricultural and non-agricultural lands, administrators of roads, railways, watercourses, lakes, irrigation systems and fish farms are now obliged to fight ragweed and remove it from the territories under their jurisdiction.
In addition, persons carrying out construction works are obliged to prevent the emergence and spread of ragweed within construction sites and lands under their jurisdiction. Ignoring these obligations will be sanctioned.
Ambrosia is an invasive plant and has the potential to negatively impact human health as well as damage crop plantations and the environment in general. Ragweed pollen can cause severe allergies, asthma attacks, and other respiratory illnesses, so measures will be conducted annually, prior to blooming. Ragweed control will be carried out annually in cooperation with authorities and landowners to reduce health risks, agricultural losses and environmental impacts.
