The new regulations on medical examinations for workers with occupational risks, which tighten health control, although approved by the government, will not come into force until the fall. Regulatory changes modify the labor protection system in accordance with European principles, and it is necessary to prepare for them.

The main changes include mandatory payment for medical examinations by the employer, introduction of electronic records and “occupational fitness card”, as well as clear stages of passing inspections: primary – at hiring, periodic examinations, examinations after illnesses, complaints and completion of harmful work.

Data is entered into a “vocational fitness card”, which records whether the worker can perform his or her duties. The results will be digitized to improve monitoring, and reporting on harmful conditions and the occupational suitability of employees will become more transparent, although the employer will not see the diagnoses.

Read more about the medical examination procedure and what you will have to deal with in our publication “European-style medical examination”.

For example, under the new decree, office employees who spend at least 20 hours a week at a computer will have to undergo a medical examination once every three years.
