According to the National Bureau of Vine and Wine, this year the fall session of the competition, which is held with a professional evaluation of each type of wine according to its characteristics, will be dedicated to sparkling wines. That is, the list of the best wines will be compiled right here in Moldova.
The competition list includes more than 50 professional tasters of international level, including three holders of the title “Master of Wine”, as well as sommelier suppliers, journalists, specialized bloggers and recognized experts. They will conduct a blind tasting of more than 1,000 sparkling wine samples from 30 countries to form a wine rating.
According to Stefan Yamandi, Director of the National Directorate of Viticulture and Winemaking, holding “Concours Mondial de Bruxelles” in Moldova is a unique opportunity to promote the country internationally as an important wine tourism destination and as a producer of quality wines on foreign markets.
Baudouin Avaux, president of the competition emphasized: “We are honored to bring the wine competition to Moldova. In recent years, Moldovan wineries have shown steady progress in our competitions and their growing success makes Chisinau a natural choice as host city. One of the main missions of our event is to expose the world to quality wines from all corners of the globe – and Moldova has already taken its place on this map.”
According to Quentin Avaux, CEO of Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, the competition’s task is to provide the consumer with a reliable quality label. “But our event is not just about medals: it gives producers powerful marketing tools and international visibility, helping to open doors to new markets. We are excited to bring the sparkling wine session to Moldova in 2025.”
It should be noted that the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles has a history of more than 30 years and is not only held in Belgium. In recent years, it has been hosted by more than 20 wine-producing countries. The competition includes tasting of registered wines, and only about 30% of them receive awards, which confirms the value of the medals and diplomas awarded.
