The largest package of investments is being implemented in the capital city

In Chisinau municipality, investment projects worth a total of 4.5 billion lei are in the implementation stage, including within the support of various EU financial instruments, Logos Press reported.

The largest package of investments is being implemented in the capital city

This was announced by Chisinau Mayor General Ion Ceban on November 15 during the presentation of the report on the two-year activity of the Chisinau City Hall.

The investment package includes new projects for the construction and reconstruction of Mircea cel Batren boulevard, Mesajer and Industriale streets. It also includes projects for the rehabilitation of the coastal zone of the river Byc, thermal insulation of 50 kindergartens and waste management through the construction of a new sorting station and the conservation of an unauthorized landfill in the Ciocana sector.

In this context, Ion Ceban said that during the last two years of the current team’s activity, about 350 km of roads and 400 km of sidewalks have been built and reconstructed in the municipality, more than 100 yards and 53 entrances to schools and kindergartens, more than 190 playgrounds, fitness and sports grounds have been installed, elevators, roofs, windows and internal engineering networks have been modernized and repaired in 200 apartment buildings.

Most of the projects are implemented in the field of public transportation. In the two reporting years, the Mayor’s Office purchased 81 trolleybuses, and a total of 367 trolleybuses and buses were purchased in recent years, and 500 bus stops were reconstructed.

The municipality authorities paid special attention to the reconstruction of parks and creation of green areas of the capital. In total, about 40 parks and small squares have been renovated, and the central park Stefan cel Mare is next in line.

In the education system, over the past two years, the municipal authorities have renovated 112 educational institutions, 46 canteens and dining halls in schools, as well as 231 rooms in 66 kindergartens. In addition, 15 sports grounds and 22 gymnasiums were built and modernized, and energy efficiency was improved in many educational institutions in the capital and suburbs.

Large investments are constantly being made in the health sector as well. Funds are used to modernize infrastructure and equip municipal hospitals and territorial medical centers.

At the same time, the municipality provides free transportation for pupils in grades 1-4 at its own expense, and the work of after-school groups is also fully financed by the municipality. The General Mayor also noted the modernization of five youth centers (in each sector of the capital), the launch of the first business incubator for young people, as well as the first municipal center of training and education for adults.

In the field of social assistance, the capital municipality provides the largest package of social services in the country, the report of the municipal authorities emphasizes. Namely, 60% of the municipal budget is allocated to education, social protection and medical services. Today, Chisinau has more than 100 social services and programs, which are used by about 380,000 people annually.
