
At the National Palace named after Nicolae Sulac. At the Nicolae Sulac National Palace, the audience will see a modern interpretation of the 1981 cult Soviet-Romanian fairy tale movie “Maria, Mirabela”. The musical combines live performances, interactive sets and 3D technology. Director Alla Donzu realized a vision that preserved the emotionality of the original. The live sound of music from the movie is provided by the Teleradio-Moldova National Symphony Orchestra under the direction of chief conductor Gheorghe Mustja.
The slogan of this year’s festival is “The Joy of Being Together” and it will run until March 12. The program includes symphonic and chamber concerts, opera and ballet performances, choreographic productions and special projects.
Festival venues
There will be 25 events in the capital: in the National Palace named after Nicolae Sulac, in the Organação Orgánica and in the National Palace named after Nicolae Sulac. The festival will take place in the National Palace named after Nicolae Sulac, the Organ Hall, the Palace of the Republic, where the National Philharmonic named after Serghei Lunkevich has been located for more than five years after the fire. Serghei Lunkević, the Maria Biesu National Opera and Ballet Theatre, as well as on stages organized by the National Ballet “Joc”.
In addition, numerous concerts and performances will take place throughout the country during March.
A varied program
Lupii lui Calancea and the Osoeanu Sisters will perform at the National Palace. The National Folk Music Orchestra “Lăutarii” will celebrate its 55th anniversary with a jubilee concert together with popular artists from Moldova and Romania.
The “InterEthnica” project will present on stage the folklore and traditions of ethnic groups living in Moldova. Then, the audience will see a concert prepared by the singer Cătălin Josan and his friends with the support of the Moldova-Concert team and the Ministry of Culture.
On March 7, Dumitru Circeumaru will present “Epic Symphonic”, an innovative project combining classical music with the participation of international DJs, adapted for both halls and open spaces.
And on March 8, “The URS” will present a gift for International Women’s Day – a concert with the most popular hits of today.
The festival at the National Palace will end with a performance by the Folk Song and Dance Ensemble “Fluieraș”, which celebrates its 80th anniversary.
At the Republic Palace, the Philharmonic’s big program will start with a concert for two pianos called “ADAGIETTO”, dedicated to the memory of pianist Iurie Mahovici, who recently passed away. Vitaly Gavruk will now perform in duet with Anatoly Lapikus.
There will also be a vocal and symphonic concert dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of composer Vasily Zagorsky, performances by Pavel Efremov (accordion) and Konstantin Borodin (cello). “Spring Harmonies” will invite you to a special evening full of emotions, music and rhythms heralding the rebirth of nature…
The Organ Hall will present a recital by one of the best trumpeters of our time, Andrei Kavalinsky (Belgium), with the National Chamber Orchestra under the baton of chief conductor Christian Flor. The Baltic Guitar Quartet from Lithuania will perform.
On March 6, the organist from Poland Michal Szostak, who is not only an outstanding musician, but also a researcher of the organ, will give a big concert, with the participation of the National Chamber Choir conducted by Ilona Stepan and Moldovan soloists. Other musical events will also delight.
