As noted in the Patronage Association of Milk and Dairy Producers Lapte, the decision not to lower the rates for dairy raw materials for large customers in the summer, they made for the second year in a row.
Previously, during the period of increased summer supply of raw milk, factories paid certain categories of suppliers 5-15% less than during the winter period of relative shortage of raw milk. However, having kept prices at the level of the winter-spring period, intermediary procurers and buying factories have more stringent requirements for milk quality (fat content, microbiology, absence of foreign impurities).
In summer, milk consumption in RM slightly decreases. At the same time, in the last few years, the “living space” of the domestic market of dairy products has been taken away from local producers by imports of similar products from Ukraine and Belarus. Nevertheless, the largest Moldovan producers convert summer milk surpluses into products with a long shelf life – butter and skim milk powder.
