
According to the press service of the Transport Ministry, the traffic is blocked on the following sections: the M3 highway Chisinau – Bucharest – Vulcanesti – Giurgiulesti, 155-165 km (on the Ciumai-Burlaceni section); 197-211 km (on the Vulcanesti – Slobozia Mare section); R37 Ceadir-Lunga – Comrat – Cantemir, 46-50 km, and R35 Bessarabca – Comrat, 13-14 km.
Access roads to settlements remain snowed in: Kaushan district – village. Bacchalia; Ukrainka-Zvezdochka-Tocuz-Salkuta; Ceadir-Lunga district – v. Gaidar; Cantemir district – v. Gaidar; Cantemir district – Vishnevka-Baimaklia, Goteshty-Tartaul, Goteshty-Doyna-Kioselia, Comrat district – Congaz-Kyetu.
Last night, 329 people and 217 units of special equipment were involved in snow clearing works, 803.5 tons of anti-slip material were used. Roads are cleared around the clock, the situation on the highways is monitored by employees of the National Patrol Inspectorate. A temporary ban on the passage of heavy vehicles is in place on some road sections.
According to the State Emergency Service, more than 110 people were evacuated from snow-covered cars by firefighters. Rescuers had the most work in Ungheni, Calarasi, Cimislia, Leova, Causeni and Taraclia districts, while the most difficult task was the transportation of sick people from villages to hospitals (four cases). In total, 300 rescuers and firefighters on 60 special vehicles have been working for the prevention and elimination of risk situations during the last 24 hours. The SSEPS reminds the population that in case of emergency it is necessary to call 901.
Border Police also reported that the checkpoints of Vulcanesti, Ceadir Lunga 1, Ceadir Lunga 2, Cismicioi, Giurgiulesti-Reni remain closed due to snow-covered roads in Ukraine, while only passenger vehicles are allowed to cross the state border at the Tudora checkpoint. The other checkpoints are operating normally. In addition, the Soroca and Coseuti ferry crossing is closed due to icing on the Dniester.
