This was reported by the press service of NEC Ukrenergo, writes European Pravda. According to the statement, Ukrenergo has received an official letter from SEPS on the unilateral termination of the Mutual Emergency Assistance Agreement. The final termination of the contractual terms will take place from May this year.

“The reasons why the colleagues cancel the contract remained unexplained by the SEPS management. For its part, NEC Ukrenergo has never allowed any violations of contractual terms with SEPS, acting in the spirit of good neighborliness and respect for the norms of European legislation”, – is noted in the statement. At the same time, in the context of the possible impact of this decision on the situation in the Ukrainian energy system, Ukrenerho assured that there would be no changes for Ukrainian consumers.

“Emergency assistance from Slovakia was attracted by NEC Ukrenergo quite rarely and in very limited amounts. The last such case was recorded back in January this year,” the company said.

They also added that the termination of the Agreement on Mutual Emergency Assistance does not affect the commercial exchange in any way. Electricity imports from Slovakia to Ukraine were and are carried out without any restrictions, in accordance with the results of daily and long-term auctions for the distribution of the capacity of interstate crossings.

We shall remind you that on 23 February, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fitzo announced the unilateral termination of the contract between SEPS and Ukrenergo due to the stoppage of Russian oil supplies via the Druzhba oil pipeline.

He said that electricity exports would be suspended until Ukraine resumes operation of the Druzhba pipeline. On 4 March, Slovakia’s SEPS announced its intention to terminate the contract with Ukraine’s Ukrenerho for emergency electricity supplies after the country’s government approved the move.
