
The project provides for the possibility of using, in addition to OECD and ISTA documents, other documents confirming the quality and origin of seed material. Of course, these other documents must be issued by a competent (accredited) authority of the seed exporting state. According to the MAIA Ministry of Agriculture and Food, “this solution provides flexibility in the import process, facilitates international trade and empowers economic operators”.
Remark byLogos Press: Earlier, the introduction by the authorities in Moldova of the obligation for importers to provide seed supplies with costly OECD and ISTA certificates (not mandatory in terms of EU directives) led to the fact that high quality seeds of some vegetable crops were not imported to the Moldovan market in 2026 due to loss of economic viability.
