The NBS provides quarterly data on labor costs in the real and budgetary sectors of the economy and the average number of employees. The average monthly gross salary amounted to 14,567.5 lei, increasing by 10.6% compared to the first quarter of 2024 and decreasing by 3% compared to the fourth quarter.

Moreover, the budgetary sector registered a lower average monthly earnings in the first quarter of 2025 – 12,810.5 lei (annual growth of 13.2%). In the real sector – 15,178.0 lei (up by 9.8%). The average number of employees, compared to the first quarter of 2024, increased by 1.3%.

The highest values of the average monthly salary in the first quarter of 2025 were recorded in the following activities: information and communication – 33,818.7 lei; financial and insurance activities – 26,258.3 lei; production and supply of electricity and heat, gas, hot water and air conditioning – 22,219.1 lei.

The lowest values of the average monthly salary were recorded in agriculture – 9244.3 lei; in accommodation and catering – 9940.6 lei; in art, recreation and leisure – 10830 lei.

The projected average wage for the economy, as a calculation unit of the government’s 2025 budgets, is 16,100 lei as of January 1, 2025. The planned nominal growth is +17.5%.
