Romania responds to call for assistance in clearing the Dniester River
The equipment was delivered yesterday to the Dniester region and installed to remove pollutants and prevent their further spreading. The oil pollution control equipment includes floating barriers and oil product collection equipment.
Romanian specialists are also installing reinforced filtration systems on the Dniester to prevent the pollution from spreading downstream. Rescuers are working together with units of the Moldovan National Army and the GIChS.
This is reported by the Ministry of Environment. The authorities continue to monitor water quality and carry out local activities to protect the population. As reported by LP, in addition to Romania, Moldova has also requested emergency support from the European Union to minimize long-term damage to the Dniester ecosystem.
