“In the context of the tense fuel situation caused by the events in the Middle East and the skyrocketing prices – by 70 baht of diesel and 40 baht of gasoline in just one day – we demand that Mr. Prime Minister present a comprehensive plan of measures on how to help citizens, businesses, farmers and transporters who are already feeling the effects of these increases,” Ursu said at the plenary session on Thursday, March 12.
For his part, Radu Marian, chairman of the Commission for Economy, Budget and Finance (PAS) assured that, fuel reserves are sufficient.
“First of all, I want to say that there are about 500 gas stations in Moldova, and there are indeed some stations experiencing difficulties. Their explanation is that the purchase price is much higher than the price at the refueling station. And some companies with “fresh” stocks do face difficulties. But that does not mean that there are no supplies available at the national level. There is enough fuel for farmers, companies and citizens to sustain themselves,” Marian explained.
The opposition factions of the Parliament supported Olga Ursu’s proposal to invite Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu to the Parliament, but the majority voted against it. Nevertheless, the opposition was promised that such discussions could take place on the platform of the specialized commission.
Radu Marian urged the opposition “not to use this topic for political points”.
