This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization Eugeniu Osmokescu, commenting on the information about Ukraine’s intention to introduce licensing of Moldovan wines.
He emphasized that the main priority for the Moldovan authorities is the safety of Moldovan consumers.
“It remains a priority between the two countries that they are always in the spirit of good-neighborliness and friendship. Nothing will definitely be violated in the future, because we are now looking for solutions to unblock the situation. I repeat, the main priority for us is the safety of Moldovan consumers, while all our standards are in line with those of the European Union,” Eugeniu Osmokescu said.
According to him, only a little more than 2% of Moldovan wines are exported to the Ukrainian market, the majority of products are sent to other markets, mainly to the European Union, “if we talk specifically about wines”.
“So it is left to the discretion of the other parties – whether to set conditions. We don’t know the details because nothing has been published in the form of a draft government decree. There has been some mention of it in the press, but it’s not verified. This is what we know at the moment, we will see further”, – said the Minister.
We shall remind you that the Ukrainian Economy Ministry recently published a report on the preparation of a draft decree on the introduction of a licensing regime for the import of grapes, wine and alcohol from Moldova. This decision protects Ukraine’s economic interests and is a response to the Moldovan side’s restriction of exports of Ukrainian poultry meat, by-products and products containing poultry meat.
On Wednesday, March 4, the information space published a statement by Ukrainian Vice Economics Minister Taras Vysotskyy, who actually confirmed the intention to introduce a licensing regime for several categories of products from Moldova, namely grapes and products obtained as a result of their processing.
